In just under three minutes, Maya Amolo takes her listeners – the yearners and lovers, as she puts it – through a journey of her own experience with this strong desire for a lover she simply cannot get enough of.

In the muted piano melody that guides us through the song, produced by the illustrious CAP, along with crunchy, saturated drums and a subtle bass – it’s clear that simplicity was the perfect complement to Maya’s ethereal voice that glides over the track like sweet honey.

She reiterates the story in two halves with similar refrains, one at the beginning:

“Catch me waiting by my phone in the morning”

The other halfway through:

“Catch me waiting by the door in the evening”

In this, one cannot help but commend her songwriting talent and ability to create a narrative out of that feeling. It is an experience that most people who have tasted potent love can relate to, no matter whether that’s a present feeling or nostalgia. The line, “Difficult to imagine // Life without these moments of your embrace” touches on this duality.

Overall, while characteristically brief of Maya Amolo, her second single of the year definitely leaves listeners yearning for more.
